Ta dah, merry Christmas. I was gonna leave it everyone their stuff in their houses, but since you're here...

[ Alluka peers around the apartment. It doesn't look that different from the apartment she and Zechs briefly occupied. They didn't decorate it either. The boat is looking much better! ]

Oh! Thank you! That looks tasty. This is your gift!

[ Alluka hands over a pink box with pale green ribbon wrapped around it. There's a dozen sugar cookies inside. ] Nanika made these.

[He's immediately cracking that box open.]

Thanks. To both of you, the baker and the courier. Let her know she did a great job.

[He still doesn't totally get this Nanika situation. Maybe in the future he should ask more questions about it.

The card with her cake is a new year's card, hand made by Gojo. Since Folkmore doesn't adhere to his world's zodiac, he decided he'll just draw a different animal on each one. Also, he can't draw. It's terrible, but he doesn't care. That's the charm as far as he's concerned. Alluka gets the rabbit.]

I don't cook or bake, so I bought that one. It's good, though. [The kitchen is just as empty, and when he opens the fridge, all that's in there right now is soda. He grabs a bottle for each of them.] I might need to start figuring it out soon. The whole cooking thing.

[ Alluka opens the card with care. She takes a photo with her relic before she closes it back up again and tucks it away. It's precious to her because it's a gift. ] Nothing wrong with buying cake. I don't cook or bake either. Nanika's learning from Toge. Maybe you two could learn together?

[ It's an idea. She sits at the table and takes the first bite of delicious, delicious cake. Oh, it's very good, but Alluka takes her time. She doesn't want to rush the experience. ] Thank you. My family had butlers. I'm pretty sure they made all my food back home, well, until I left home. Big Brother cooks a little, but mostly we buy things.

Ah, you too, huh? [Not the only pampered one around here, it seems.] Yeah, I should probably get on taking some lessons or something.

[He nods as he finishes off that cookie. That explains it.] That Inumaki sure knows how to bake. Should've seen him at that big holiday party. He was customizing them right there. Would've slapped a god ribbon on him right there if I was actually a judge. Glad I wasn't, because choosing between him and Lila would have been impossible.

[ Alluka blinks. ] I wouldn't say you're from a family of assassins. Jujutsu sorcerers do fight, but it's different.

Oh, I meant to go to that! But I didn't want to scare anyone with me being out late. I uh, [ Alluka looks down, a little embarrassed. ] may have given Zechs a scare. I promise, no one hurt me! But you know... the Wild Hunt.

Toge is the best! He can do anything with food, I swear! Tell me about Lila's cookies. Please? [ If they can hold up to Toge's, they have to be good. ]

[Assassins, huh? His eyebrows go up at that.] No, no, curses only. Thankfully. I meant more like, having to worry about the little things. Cooking, cleaning... I should probably get some stuff for this place. Never had to bother with it myself before.

Right, the fae? I think I lucked out by hiding at Euphoria a little too long. [That's one way to avoid them!]

I'm sure if you ask her, she'd be glad to make 'em. They rivaled Inumaki's in terms of fanciness and taste. She made 2 kinds, chocolate chip and lemon, and they were pink. I gave her points for bucking the usual Christmas trends and doing her own thing.

Oh, I kept my room clean. People didn't come by very often. I didn't even know all the butlers names. But no cooking! I never even saw something cooked until Big Brother and his friend Gon cooked in the woods. It was really impressive to go from start to finish.

[ Alluka looks around the space. It still looks pretty clean. ] Cleaning isn't too hard. Plus it's really nice to know you made this space look like it does. Makes it yours. It's sort of like taking care of a shrine to yourself.

[ People will do all kinds of things if you ask. Nanika is careful not to ask for things, but Alluka can. She notes Lila's name because it's always good to know people who make good cookies. ] I will remember her. If I see her around. [ A pause ] How many points would you give Nanika's cookies?

Y'know, I can safely say I never thought of it that way before. [Alluka needs to come back a week later once Geto is moved in. The place will be completely different.]

Heh. Well, I never actually have out real points, so I guess I don't really have a scale to put it on. But these are definitely high up on the taste scale for sure. Got everything just right.

[ Alluka beams. ] I look forward to seeing what you do here. I want to see what you make a shrine to you look like.

[ No real points are okay. The point is he likes Nanika's cookies. Alluka nudges Nanika in her head. See, he's friendly. He's been friendly from the start. ] I'm glad you like them. I like them too. She wants to get good enough to make them on her own, though Toge has the best mixer.

A shrine, huh? Just how into me do you think I am? [He kids, of course.]

I told him he ought to be opening his own bakery. It's a good idea, I think. Who knows - if he does, he'll probably need a few apprentices.

Very. [ Alluka puts her hands together to flash Gojo a big smile. She too is kidding. ]

If that's what he wants to do, I'll definitely go there and Nanika would be happy to apprentice for him. [ She eats more of the cake because it is very good, and the soda washes down her throat nicely. ] What about you? What do you want to do here?

[He's strangely quiet at that question, deciding to fill his silence with another bite of cookie.]

I dunno yet. It's so different from home that I think I'm still adjusting. I liked travelling around and seeing everything, that's been pretty cool.

[But it also gets lonely after awhile. His surface reason for getting an apartment here was a place to keep his stuff. Really, though, it was to have a home base near a lot of the people he's met.]

I'll figure it out, you know? There's a whole universe of things for me to try out there.

[He has no idea what to do.]

[ Alluka nods in big agreement. ]

You actually found a place to live faster than I did. It took a couple months before I lived anywhere at all, and even then it took longer for Zechs and Nanika and I to decide where we wanted to live. Like, another month and a half. So I'd say you're doing pretty well adjusting.

[ She presses one finger around the plate to pick up crumbs, sucking them into her mouth. ] I'm exploring too.

Not just here. I left home for the first time recently back in my world. Big Brother and I were just exploring because there's so much I've never done. There still is! I've probably done more in some ways here than I ever have back home, and I'm still just starting out.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one figuring it out.

[He listens, arm leaned on the kitchen bar. He gets it. Gojo holds up his soda bottle toward Alluka in a toast.]

To us, and figuring out what the hell a normal life is supposed to entail.

[ Alluka holds her soda bottle up to Gojo's and taps them together. ] To us!

[ She takes another sip and looks at Gojo. ] I don't know what it all is like, but I think the most important thing is to love people and be loved. That's what I want most. I can handle anything if someone loves me.

[His smile falters for a moment at that, but he does his best to keep it there after taking a sip for his toast.]

Yeah. Makes all the difference, huh.

[ Alluka nods, entirely sure of herself. She's doing great. ]

You know all your students love you, right?

[He wasn't expecting that at all. Gojo looks surprised, stopping short of his next sip of soda. He tries to recover, slapping on a grin and shaking his head a little.]

Even me? C'mon, no one likes their teachers. They're teachers.

You're a cool teacher.

[ Alluka takes another happy bite of cake, humming to herself. She's softer when she adds... ]

Plus you're the reason many of them are still alive.

Of course I'm a cool teacher. I'm a cool guy.

[This girl's too nice, isn't she. He smiles softly, leaning towards her a little on the counter.]

Well, I'm not about to let anyone die on my watch. Curses or jujutsu elders, I'm not letting either get in the way.

Yes you are. You even look like Big Brother.

[ Alluka likes that protectiveness. It feels very safe. She's confident of the answer because it happened before, but just in case, Alluka looks right at Gojo. ]

What about Natural Spirits? Will you protect them too? If they look to you for it.

[Well he's never considered that.]

Oh. Uh, well, so long as they're benevolent, of course.

[ Alluka nods seriously. ]

Of course, it's important that people mean well. Though that doesn't mean people never get hurt.

[ She's deadly serious. ]
